A master of prestidigitation and a showman of the highest caliber Mr Lola Illusion has performed all over the countryside (There are whispers that he has performed miracles in the Asian continent and the far flung antipodian colony of Australia). He has enthralled audiences with his impressive balls and stolen the hearts of women and the odd gentleman (the very odd gentleman) with feats of mime misdirection and charisma. He will charm you with his smile and the suggestive twinkle in his eye will bewitch you and when he sashays into your life you will never be the same.
Mr Lola Illusion is the founder of the Boom Boom Room Burlesque, which has been running for 12 years. He has appeared in Trick or Treat, Hugs and Kisses, Ring – A -Ding Ding! and Bottoms Up! He has performed at Sky City Casino – Queenstown in Queenstown or Bust!, Peek-A-Boo!, and Tease-O-Rama! And Hamilton Casino in Jingle All The Way! He has appeared at the Blue Baths in Rotorua in Comedy Cabaret, Creation Fest and Comedy Cabaret II “It’s A Quack Up” as well as emceeing various burlesque and drag events around New Zealand.
In 2014 he launched his solo one man revue The Lola Show a nostalgic sideshow of music magic and mirth filled with high camp, high glamour and low brow laughs. Performing sold out performances at the SOLO FESTIVAL at Centrepoint’s The Dark Room and Performances at 2016 Wellington Fringe Festival at BATS theatre. 2016 saw the release of his second solo piece Lola’s Grave Mistake performed at The Fringe bar in Wellington, Bats Theatre and The Dark Room in Palmerston North.
2019 will see the launch of a third solo work, an ambitious fruity cabaret project and the relaunch of Lola and Friends a variety cabaret of the sublime to the ridiculous. Photo Credits are Toni Larsen Photography
